PSA Grading EV Calculator

A PSA grading calculator for Pokémon TCG cards. Enter your card's market values and pop distribution; we'll compute the expected value of selling raw, submitting blind to PSA, and pre-grading first, all in CAD.

Submit blind, pre-grade first, or just sell raw? Decide with math, not vibes.

How to use this calculator
  1. Look up market prices for your card, raw NM and each PSA grade (10, 9, 8, ≤7), in CAD.
    • PriceCharting is the cleanest single source for graded + raw history. Use the "loose price" for raw NM, then click into the card for per-grade PSA sold prices.
    • TCGPlayer for raw NM market price (USD, multiply by ~1.37 to get CAD); thin coverage on graded.
    • For Canada-specific data: eBay completed listings filtered to .ca sellers, or a price-tracking Discord like ours.
  2. Fill the pop distribution (section 03, pop10, pop9, pop8). Either type the percentages directly, or use the PSA lookup widget just below section 03 to auto-populate them: paste a PSA spec ID or URL and click Fetch. Daily limit: 5 PSA lookups per browser.
  3. Tune costs to your situation. Grading cost = PSA submission fee + round-trip shipping + insurance. Pre-grade fee = whatever your service charges per card. Marketplace fees: 15% for eBay, 0% for local sales (Facebook/Kijiji/Discord) or if you vault.
  4. Calibrate the pre-grader sliders. Top slider = how often a competent pre-grader correctly flags a true PSA 10. Bottom slider = how often they over-recommend a true 9 as "submit." Anchor numbers in section 04's hint.
  5. Read the verdict. The strategy card with the dark border wins. The verdict line spells out the EV margin and which fee you pay. Tap show math if you want to see the calculation.

EV is a long-run average. On any single card, the actual outcome can deviate substantially. Use this to inform repeated decisions across a portfolio, not to predict any one card.

Find the spec ID at psacard.com/cert or paste a PSA URL, the spec ID is the trailing integer (e.g. 2118427 from psacard.com/spec/psa/2118427). Limit: 5 lookups per browser per day.

Anchor: SnapGrade publishes 87–89% within ±0.5 grades across a 412-card verified-returns log. Human pre-graders trend slightly higher on gem recognition but bias toward over-recommending (a 170-card community test averaged +0.85 grade overestimate), bump the second slider up if your pre-grader is incentivized to push submissions.
